The screen goes dark on its own. That is the sleep timer. Tap once to bring the controls back, then pick a longer duration, or the infinity setting to leave it on all night.
I can't see the controls. They fade after about 45 seconds so the room stays calm. Tap anywhere on the screen and they come back.
The scene is too bright. Use the dimmer in the tray rather than the iPad's own brightness. It goes considerably darker.
There's no sound. Check the iPad's volume and that it is not muted. Keep the app open; audio stops when it moves to the background.
Does it need the internet? No. Everything is on the device. It works in airplane mode.
Does anything cost money? No. The app is free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or tips. Every feature is included.
iPad running iOS 18 or later. Best plugged in, since the screen stays on.
